The prophet
by Cyril Almond

As we browse through the old testament we come across many prophets. But the short story of Micah is a powerful one. Straight to the point this man, he loved his God and he was sent to many who did not.

He was living in an generation that was very disobedient to the word of God. Hence he crossed many influential people who treated him with scorn.

In chapter 1 verses 1-9. Micah warns the capital cities of Samaria and Jerusalem in no uncertain terms of the wrath of God they had incured. How come that Samaritns and Jews were both included in this together. The people of God had become just as bad as their neighbors. Indulging in orgies and pagan worship treating the poor with disdain. The taking of other peoples wifes brought them into adultry and so the list goes on.

Micah could feel the anger of God in his spirit. As a man of God he would live and walk and talk in line with the spirit of his God. There were mant false prophets about who were bringing people into a false sense of security. They would then believe that what they were doing was right.

We have such prophets around today, who prophesy false blessings and a way of life that is not of God. This is what Micah was up against but he never wavered in his calling and spoke the truth. There are true prophets about today and when we test their spirit we shall know that they are real men and women of God.

We have the advantage of the ministry of the Holy Spirit to guide us into all things in spirit and in truth. He will do just that when we ask him and he will say this is the way walk you in it.
