Lord, I can only keep one promise to you to my dying day!
I can only keep one promise on this Straight and Narrow Way!
I cannot promise you that I will never ever sin!
I cannot promise that when I fight my spiritual battles that I will always win!
I cannot promise you that I will always do what I should!
If I could "trust" my weak frame of flesh I know I surely would!
I cannot promise you I'll always make time to kneel and pray!
I cannot promise you I won't ever stumble over sin along the way!
I cannot promise "anything" to you Most Holy God!
That depends upon my "own strength" along this path I trod!
I cannot promise I won't miss a day of study in your word!
To make a promise to you that I can't keep would be foolish and absurd!
I can only make one promise to you Lord that I know shall never fail!
And I believe that "one promise" will one day take my soul beyond The Vail!
My hope rests in that one promise that I know that I shall forever keep!
And tonight I lay that promise on your Alter as a precious gift so sweet!
There is only one promise Jesus that I "know" that I can keep!
And tonight I lay that promise humbly at your feet!
This is my promise Lord, as you sit lifted up high upon your THRONE beyond the blue!
"I promise that I will always LOVE YOU!"
