Ayyy!
by PamFord Davis

The Fonz is remembered by many for his ‘Ayyy’ and thumbs up…

Others might readily recall Happy Days Fonzie having the apt ability to start Arnold’s Soda Shop jukebox. Forget inserting coins into a slot; he simply hit it with a tap of his fisted hand!

As I remember, Arthur Fonzerello frequently stood in front of mirrors. Arrogant, he saw no need for any improvement.

“But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror.  For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.  But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but one who does good works—this person will be blessed in what he does (James 1:22-25 HCSB).”

Works?

Be assured, we cannot work our way into heaven.

Works follow commitment; believers carry on the work ‘of Christ.'

“Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves.

‘I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:11-13 HCSB).”

Mirror, mirror on my heart…
