God Who Sees
by PamFord Davis

God is spirit.

“Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:20-24 NASB).”

God is spirit; He is the God ‘that sees.’

“He said, ‘Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from and where are you going?’And she said, ‘I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.’ Then the angel of the Lord said to her, ‘Return to your mistress, and submit yourself to her authority.’ Moreover, the angel of the Lord said to her, ‘I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be too many to count.’ The angel of the Lord said to her further,

‘Behold, you are with child,
And you will bear a son;
And you shall call his name Ishmael,
Because the Lord has given heed to your affliction.
He will be a wild donkey of a man,
His hand will be against everyone,
And everyone’s hand will be against him;
And he will live to the east of all his brothers.’

Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, ‘You are a God who sees;’ for she said, ‘Have I even remained alive here after seeing Him (Genesis 16:8-13 NASB).”
