Streaks

If my eyes could see from space

This planet I live on, so perfectly placed

A jeweled marble, beautifully calm

If by sight I could go back in time

Would I be able to see saints on their heavenly climb?

Enoch

You walked with God over three hundred years

Then you just kept on walking

Did God hold your hand?

A child coming home from a desolate land

Would I have been able to see you leave in streaming light?

Going home through an angelic sky

Elijah

What of you? So strong your love for God

Elisha your friend, wanting to be a part of the road you trod

Elijah you knew there would be a change, then it came

A chariot of fire, horses of flame

You two separated, one left behind

Elijah was your breath taken in flight?

Forever cleansed by the Spirit of fire and light

Did you streak to glory, leaving golden rays?

A whirlwind to heaven with the Lord to stay

Would my eyes have seen fiery sparks?

Angels parting your way through cold and dark

Lazarus

You, hungry, longing for a few crumbs

Poor, covered in sores

Yet you must have had a deep love for your Lord

When you died would I have seen angels carrying you home?

Magnificent silver wings gliding through space

Holding you tenderly with mercy and grace

Everyday many of Your children Lord are called to leave

Are there streaks of light with angelic smiles?

They lifting Your precious child

Would I be able to see these as points of light?

Such a glorious sight

Are my brothers and sisters who have gone on

Excited, able to see who is coming home?

And what of the prince of the power of the air

Does he take notice?

Would saintly lights cause him disgust and despair?

One day I too will take my turn

To drown in Your light, my heart does yearn

No I can't see, but for now I dream

Imagining a glorious, radiant stream
