DIVINE DELIVERANCE FOR HIS PEOPLE
by ONOME OGBAJIBREDE

Scriptural Reading: Acts 9:27-31

‘‘That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,’’ Luke 1:74 (KJV)

Captivity is the stronghold of the enemy. As long as one remains in the enemy’s custody, deliverance is far from possibility, if one does not hand it over to God who is the great Deliverer.

In the book of Acts 8:3, Saul persecuted the church of God a great deal. He made havock of the church. It was when Saul was arrested by God that the churches had rest, this was x-rayed from where we took our scriptural reading from in the book of Acts 9:27-31. Not until the strong man of any nation or community is arrested by the Almighty God, the people will continue to live in fear and pains. That was why God had to kill Herod, destroyed Pharaoh and defeated Goliath for the peace of the Israelites.

God is a great deliverer and knows how to burst the hideout of the enemies and set their victims free of charge. God does not want us to live in fear as a result of people terrorizing us that is why He wants us to always call on Him whenever we suspect any form of oppression or harassment from those stronger than us. He will not come as a man, but He will appear as a great deliverer who rescues the captives from their captors.

Do we desire deliverance from the hands of the powers higher than us? Then let us pray with this scripture continually in the book of Psalm. ‘Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.’ Psalm 59:1 (KJV). We can also add this scripture as well. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.’ Psalm 18:17 (KJV). As we pray, God will grant us deliverance speedily.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, deliver me and my household from the hands of the wicked and from every perpetual bondage the enemies have kept us. Amen.

An escape route from the base of the enemy is a sure rest for God’s people.
