DIVINE NATIONAL REPENTANCE

 Scriptural Reading: II Chronicles 7:13-14

‘‘I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.’’ Luke 13:5 (KJV)

Sodom and Gomorrah was a city that was given to whoredom where immorality was an open display. Sexual immorality was like a second culture and they refused to repent of their atrocities and God had to destroy that city and wiped them out from the map of the world.

Our scriptural reading where we took our text from in the book of II Chronicles 7:13-14, God was of the opinion that we who are His children, if we would call on Him in repentance and not go back to our sinful ways, when we humble ourselves before Him in prayers, He would hear us and make our lands to be good for us to enjoy its benefits. This calls for total repentance and living in holiness, righteousness, and pursuit of peace with all humankind.

God is a holy and a righteous father who want all humankind to live in holiness and righteousness which is well pleasing to Him. God is angry with the sinners every day and He does not want us to be involved in anything called sin. When we fall into sin and refused to repent and call on Him for help and to plead for mercy, then His wrath will wax hot against us.

Do we want God to hear us as a nation and make us enjoy the good of the land?  The only way out is to put an end to the shedding of innocent blood, fraudulent engagement, kidnapping, sexual imperialism, terrorism, idolatry etc and handing over our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ who is the soon coming king. Here is an anchor scripture to hold on to and apply daily for genuine repentance.  ‘And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.’’ Jonah 3:10 (KJV)

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I repent of all my sins today and I lift up my nation before you for mercy, give us the heart to know you and forgive us in all the areas we have gone astray. Amen

Genuine repentance averts disaster and it produces healing that leads to rest.
