Our Easter Outfits
by PamFord Davis

Have you picked out a new outfit for Easter?

I don’t think people give Easter clothes much attention now-days.

‘Back in my day’ …

Okay, now I sound like my parents!

Well, Easter outfits were important back in the 1950’s & 60’s.

Women wore suits and blouses or springtime dresses with matching hats, high heeled shoes and white gloves. Mothers dressed their daughters in frilly dresses, springtime coats, hats, patent leather shoes and fancy socks. Girls of all ages carried small purses. Like their moms, they wore white gloves.

Men and boys dressed in suits with white shirts and ties. Shoes were shined to perfection and men wore hats until entering churches for Easter worship services. It’s said that clothes make the man.

What we wear does make a difference…

The LORD has picked out our clothes.

“I will rejoice greatly in the Lord,
My soul will exult in my God;
For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,
He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels (Isaiah 61:10 NASB).”
