CRUCIFIED JESUS LAST WORDS
by Lupie Riley

Thought: As Jesus hung on the cross in excruciating pain his last words were phenomenal. Through this act of sacrifice mankind was redeemed and set free from the bondage of sin. His words were as follows:
1. "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."
2. Looking at the thief on the cross "Today you will be with me in paradise."
3. Instructions to his biological mother Mary and then to John. "Behold your son; behold your mother."
4. Feeling the darkness and isolation of all the sins of the world laid upon him "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"
5. " I thirst"
6. "It is finished" He took the punishment of sin to offer redemption.
7. "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit."

Jesus was our substitute for the punishment we deserve because of all the things we do against God's will for us. Acknowledgement that we are sinners is the first step towards reconciliation with our Father God. Jesus spirit within guarantee's us that we will have his strength and power to resist temptations that draw us away from God. Our will becomes His will.
We are exonerated from the burden of guilt with the gift of forgiveness through Jesus bodily sacrifice. With this gift comes eternal life and new forever bodies with a place in God's mansion that he has prepared for us.

Death could not hold the Holy One in the grave. He arose the third day and defeated the scourge of death. We worship a living God that loves us unconditionally. We don't have to sign a contract or agreement. We should be in awe at this kind of love from our Creator God and shout with joy, HE IS ALIVE FOREVERMORE and coming back as King of Kings. Jesus is the reason for this holiday called Easter. It's not about eggs and bunnies but in a man/God called Jesus. Let's lift him up on high and sing praises to His name. Maranatha

Prayer: Father God, without the death and resurrection of Jesus mankind would lose all hope. Thank you for the assurance that we are not alone for Jesus is our strength and guarantee for a better tomorrow. Amen

Verse: Luke 24:2,3 "They found the stone rolled away from the tomb but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus."
