SPEED BUMPS OF LOVE
by Lewis E. Thomas

SPEED BUMPS OF LOVE

A friend of mine inspired me to write this poem and rhyme!
So, listen closely to what is said on every line!

We all hate speed bumps because they slow us down and get in our way!
But, we can learn a lesson from them if we will just think hard today!

Speed bumps are always there for a good reason and to make us "SLOW DOWN"!
So, next time you see them don't cry, whimper, or frown!

Speed bumps are there to protect us and others from our excessive speed!
To slow us down around schools and little children which is a great need!

God saw me living my life "too fast", being intoxicated by my fleshly desires!
God saw that I was headed for Hell and it's eternal fires!

So, God put some speed bumps in my life to wake me up and slow me down!
Like when I hit a big speed bump called cancer that "woke me up" and turned me around!

Then I hit those speed bumps called divorce a time or two which caused me great pain!
My life was out of control and my stubborn rebellion against God was to blame!

Oh Lord, thank you for those "SPEED BUMPS" that rocked my world and woke me up!
If not for those "SPEED BUMPS of love" I would still be living a life totally corrupt!

Are you ignoring those "SPEED BUMPS" God has laid down in your life?
Has your rebellion against God caused you to lose your husband or your wife?

Are you chasing another dollar trying to impress others with your material things?
Do you think you are doing just great without God or THE KING of kings?

If so, then God will put a "Speed Bump of Love" in your road ahead to wake you up from your carnal daze!
A "SPEED BUMP" to wake you up and get you to change your ways!

A "SPEED BUMP" may be "waiting for you" just around the next bend!
It could be there to "wake you up" so you will turn to Jesus and flee from Sin!

A comment from a lady who viewed this poem:

This is beautiful and so true. Thank you for showing that my own cancer was my very own speed bump as well. It has forced me to slow down as well. Thank you so much and prayers and healing sent your way.
