MY WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES
by Lewis E. Thomas

MY WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES

I walked through a cemetery just the other day.
As I read the names on the tombstones I paused to bow my head and pray!

I prayed, " Lord, I wonder how many of these that are now dead and gone...
Were "Born Again" before they died, and able to make Heaven their home?

"I wonder how many died lost and unsaved"?
Did they know that death is the doorway to that "spiritual realm" beyond the grave?

Walking through the TOMBSTONES has a great sobering effect on me!
It shows me just how "quickly" my "LIFE" can be snatched away from me!

It shows me that I need to live my life "everyday" in a way that "pleases" God above!
It shows me how "important" it is for me to walk in perfect love!

One lying in the grave "right there" lived to be 100 years old!
I wonder if they made it to Heaven and to those STREETS OF PURE GOLD?

A child's grave nearby shows that a little boy died at the age of three!
Lord, I "know" that little boy is up there in Heaven now with thee!

"Lord, why is it that we prepare for everything in life but death"...
when we could die "today" taking our last and final breath?

There are Cemetery plots somewhere out there today "waiting quietly" for you and I.
God knows the exact spot where our remains will lie after we die!

Are you "ready" for "DEATH" should it reach out "suddenly without warning" for you?
Have you been washed in the blood of Jesus and made into a creature totally new?

When Death strikes a Christian it strikes "without its deadly sting"!
Because Christians have been born again, forgiven, and redeemed by the KING of kings!

Next time you are in a CEMETERY think about that tombstone in the future that someone will be engraving for you"!

And ask yourself this "crucial" question!

"Will the life I'm now living get me into that great KINGDOM of GOD up there beyond the blue?"
