Death Threat
by PamFord Davis

Ever had a death threat?

I’ve never experienced anything that frightening. In today’s terrorism climate, we must take any and all threats seriously. Many threats are voiced by pranksters or the mentally unbalanced; yet, others are carried out. My husband had no way of knowing if the bomb threat he received on the phone was real.

We’ve both worked for many years in broadcasting and listeners have frequently called to request their favorite records. Imagine his shock when the caller said there was a bomb in the radio station building.

Doing a night shift, he was there alone. Was he really in danger?

Soon after, he received a second call; the man told him he needed to get out of the building. He stayed; there was no bomb. It was just a prank. I don’t think I would have reacted so calmly. What if he’d been wrong? I would have been left a widow with 2 young children. Apostle Paul’s nephew overheard a conversation; religious leaders were conspiring to kill Paul.

The death threat was real.

“And when it was day, some of the Jews banded together and bound themselves under an oath, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they killed Paul (Acts 23:12 NKJV).”

Through God’s providence, the ambush was thwarted. (Acts 23:13-30).
