John 6:38
For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.

I was thinking the other day about this whole concept of tracking God’s will and it occurred to me that Jesus himself was a GodTracker.  Yes, that’s right, you and I are fellow GodTrackers with Christ.

I think we forget that, while Jesus walked on the earth as Emmanuel, he was not only fully God, but he was also fully human, just like you and me. We read that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men. This implies that, apart from his perfect, sinless supernatural character (as God the Son) Jesus still needed to study the scriptures, pray to the Father and discover God’s purposes for his natural life. And Jesus had a God-ordained purpose. He said, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.”

In his humanity, Jesus had the choice to follow or to reject God’s will. In the Garden of Gethsemane, we see how Jesus wrestled with the will of God. We forget that he had normal human emotions and a normal human will. It was late at night when he prayed in Gethsemane. He was tired and his disciples were tried. He could quite easily have just gone back down the hill and home to bed. But he didn’t. Thankfully, Jesus did not reject the Father’s call for him to go to the cross and that he went through with God’s plan for him as a GodTracker when died for our sins.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the author and perfecter of the faith and that we are to fix our eyes on him. In other words, he is our example; our role model in obedience to do God’s will to track his plans.

So, dear GodTracker, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and flourish in God’s purposes for your life.

God-tracking is following Jesus’ example.

DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

Help me, dear Jesus, to track the plans and purposes of God as you did

“Oh Lord, thank you so much for your example to me. Thank you that you suffered everything that I suffer in life, yet you never sinned. Thank you that I can rest in your help when I am tempted and I can rest in your strength to face my difficulties. I take your example, O Lord, to look through my cross and see myself delivered and secure on the other side. I take to heart your example to do the will of God, no matter the consequences. Help me, dear Jesus, to track the plans and purposes of God as you did – as a sure GodTracker. Amen.”
