Influencing the Dance
by Linda Jackson

Songs of Life

Music of Death

One Brings Strife

One will Bless

A battle rages between the two

Which dance will you choose?

Dragging golden calves from the Egypt you can't release

Voices praising from a dark place

Feet stomping to a rhythm, causing shadows to increase

You seem to prosper as you twirl, keeping time

Do your children also dance to alluring chimes?

Singing the same songs

Families who partner in this deadly waltz

Vibrations float through two worlds

Lyrics weave and draw

Man has devised sources, easily heard

Angels and demons listen to each selected verse

Invitations will be offered for your choice

Come join songs of angels, dances of light and joy

Or call on howling creatures to raise their voice

Moaning comes from a joyless heart

Sin upon sin passed down from the start

Sight of the soul is often dim

How long since you've seen true Peace and Love?

A dance of grief knows only to push and shove

Where is your rest?  When dancing to

Music of death

If you remember and take a chance

Listen as the Lord  whispers

He is able to restore His song and dance

If allowed, a new song begins to form

Melodies pure of heart, heaviness torn

A struggle to keep the darkness away

Joining every breath of creation that's free to praise

Recalling the King of Kings

The One who salvation and beauty brings

Chains fall, you're free to sing to your Lord

Lifting hands, dancing about

Some condemn, saying don't leap and shout

Darkness howls in pain

Heavenly worship deafens sounds of strife

Death begins to sing

Songs of Life

Only the Lord can give you His dance

He graciously loosens soiled garments that cling

Freedom to move, fresh and clean

When a heart is full of wonder and love

Who can be silent when filled from above?

Thankful old songs are replaced with new

A choice

Influencing the dance

Which one will you choose?

Songs of Life

Music of Death

One Brings Strife

One will Bless
