Lighted Spaces
by PamFord Davis

Our parents left the light on.

Mom and Dad slept on the first floor of our 4 bedroom house; our bedrooms were upstairs.  We had a ceiling light just outside our rooms; at the top of the stairs. During the night, Mom and Dad kept it burning.

I don’t remember being very afraid of the dark as a child. Yet; I prefer lighted spaces.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the defense of my life;
Whom shall I dread (Psalm 27:1 NASB)?”

The LORD’s light never goes out. He is my light.

“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life (John 8:12 NASB).”

The heavenly Father has delivered me from darkness.

“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son (Colossians 1:13 NASB).”

I have no cause to fear the darkness. God lights my path.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path (Psalm 119:105 NASB).”

He leaves the light on!
