Banners Over Me
by Linda Jackson

Lord, You speak of banners

What does that mean?

Do they go before or flow behind?

Are they noticed in the world unseen?

Some given because of a loving fear of You

Displaying the power of Truth

The unfolding banners of Your children old and young

Spreading through the universe, songs of victories won

Your Name, above all, woven in colors bold

Brilliant hues, driving away the dark and cold

Identifies me, a warrior of the King of Kings

May my banner declare who Your are

Edged with a purifying white of Your Holiness

The covering of Your army to come

Stitched in flames of radiance, seeing the depth of my love

Intertwined with threads of gold, the Truth of my High Priest

Flying high as lies increase

Blazing tassels, dipped in royal red

Runs through every color, for the blood You shed

A forecful brass rod, the authority of the One I serve

Firmly set, faithfully held

May ministering angels help me to hold it tall

Entangling flights of demons, causing their fall

At times I struggle

Striving to hold my banner high above

Then I remember, Your Banner over me is Love

I will sing for joy over victories won

My banner in the Name of God's only Son

I honor the Name of the One Most High

His banner of Truth is my battle cry

At times my General invites me to dine in peace

His Love over me pure and sweet

A fragrance of love that makes me smile

Noticed forever as God's child
