My Perfect Fit
by PamFord Davis

I don’t believe in luck; neither good nor bad. Let’s just say I don’t have a good track record with wedding ring sets.

My original wedding ring was stolen during our engagement. Norm had to buy a 2nd wedding band before our marriage ceremony.

Years later, while vacuuming carpets, I lost one of the diamonds out of the wedding band. Norm had the diamond replaced as an anniversary gift. That one also came out of the setting. I haven’t fared well with my engagement rings either.

One summer, my hands were swollen; so I removed the diamond ring. It must have somehow fallen out of my purse. My husband bought me a new diamond ring (for another wedding anniversary present). Not long ago, the diamond fell out of the setting.

I’m content to wear my mother’s gold wedding band. Dad placed it on her finger 72 years ago. When she gained weight the ring became too small for her; so, she gave it to me. It’s a perfect fit on my ring finger.

I have the perfect mate too.

Some Pharisees came up to Jesus, testing Him, and began to question Him whether it was lawful for a man to divorce a wife. And He answered and said to them, ‘What did Moses command you?’ They said, ‘Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.’ But Jesus said to them, ‘Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.  But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female.  For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate (Mark 10:2-9 NASB).”
