The Straws Debate
by PamFord Davis

Many recycle. I have no idea where you stand on the plastic straws debate. I’m just showing my true colors. I have red and blue long plastic straws. My husband bought each of us large glasses of soft drinks and picked up the straws at the soda machine. I wash the straws and reuse them at home; I don’t toss many away.

After hearing a news story on the radio, my husband asked what we could use if there were no plastic straws. I was quick to answer, ‘paper’ straws. I remember my elementary school years and drinking small containers of milk with paper straws. They’ve been around forever. Well, maybe not forever…

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever (1 Chronicles 16:34 NKJV).”

Oh yes, the LORD’s mercy endures forever!

“Praise the Lord!

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord?
Who can declare all His praise (Psalm 106:1-2 NKJV)?”
