Double Dare Ya'
by PamFord Davis

I stayed in the car when my husband went into the post office.

While waiting, I watched a toddler aged girl trail after her mother or grandmother. The girl was so tiny; I’d guess she was two or younger. Her guardian stepped down from the side walk and into the parking lot.

There was a measurable distance down below between the two areas. I thought the girl would be frightened.

Expecting her to cautiously step down with one leg and then the other; I was surprised. Carefree, she jumped!

Being tempted, Jesus could have jumped.

Set the scene.

The devil is a bully.

‘I dare ya.’ I double dare ya!’

“Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, ‘If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:

‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’

‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’

Jesus said to him, ‘It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God (Matthew 4:5-7 NKJV).”
