FEAR AND IT'S MEANING

Thought: There are many interpretations to the word FEAR. Webster describes it as alarm or agitation of impending danger. Another meaning is to be in awe: revere (fear of God).

The phrase "fear not" is used at least 80 times in the Bible, most likely because our Lord knows the enemy uses fear to control and destroy hope that limits our victories. A prominent religion uses it to submit their victims to their ideology. Totalitarian governments uses it to enslave it's people. Today parents are fearful of our country's future.

One way of combating harmful fear is by believing the Lord will turn your situation around for the good because he has a purpose for your life. One of my favorite verses is found in Isaiah 43:1. "Don't fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine." What a great honor and privilege it is that He knows us by our name and we are part of His family. We need to remind ourselves of this promise from God who will turn our fears into faith. When we are faced with crippling fear we need to trust God at his Word like a child to his parent.

There is another kind of fear and that is the fear of God, being in awe of His power, glory and righteousness. The great I AM, creator of all things will never leave us alone. Harmful fear has no place in our lives. Jesus can and will take away our fears and anxieties and replace them with his love and peace. Our part is to trust Him to do it.

Prayer: Father God, thank you that I can call you ABBA (father) because I am now a part of your family. You are a Father that will never leave me alone. I can depend on you to hear my prayers and answer according to your will and timing. Amen
Verse: Prov. 9:10 " For the reverence and fear of God are basic to all wisdom. Knowing God results in every other kind of understanding." Psalms 33:8 "Let everyone in all the world--men, women and children--fear the Lord and stand in awe of him. For when he but spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command!"
