Small, yet Significant
by PamFord Davis

Though born in the city of Syracuse, New York; I grew up in the small rural neighborhood of Mycenae. I now live in the State of Louisiana; famous for New Orleans and the Mardi Gras. Yet, I live hours away; in the village of Epps. Our village is small but significant. We’re the home of Poverty Point a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Bethlehem was little but significant.

“And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.

And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem (Genesis 35:17-19 KJV).”

King David- anointed as King of Israel in Bethlehem.

“And Samuel did that which the Lord spake, and came to Bethlehem. (1 Samuel 16:4 KJV).”

Yes, Bethlehem; small but significant.

“Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward (1 Samuel 16:13a KJV).”

Bethlehem prophecy proclaimed…

“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting (Micah 5:2 KJV).”

Bethlehem, city of David was the birthplace of Christ.

“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) (Luke 2:4 KJV).”

Bethlehem’s Babe!

“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn (Luke 2:7 KJV).”
