Jesus' Christmas Tree
by Tonja Taylor This poem can be a large bookmark, to be printed and folded vertically. My daughter and I did a presentation of "Jesus' Christmas Tree" to two local homeschool groups; one in December 2011, and the other December 2012. The children in the first group were especially fascinated with the fact that they could take an ornament for their tree and pray with their families for the people in a country across the ocean to come to know Jesus. Some of the little ones wanted to take several ornaments, even though they could not even pronounce the names of those countries! We discussed the fact that Jesus loves everybody everywhere, and that He is the perfect Gift to the world, while we are also gifts to Him. With the older group in December 2012, we focused on Romans 10:17, “So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).” May your faith in the Messiah be strengthened today! JESUS' CHRISTMAS TREE by Tonja K. Taylor If Jesus had a Christmas tree, Its branches full of decoration The names of each engraved upon An ornament; cherished and known And crafted into each, and hidden, Each one of their faces Touched by our prayers, His tree is lush and full and tall, And everywhere, the graceful light Upon the top, a shining star, The symbol with six pointed sides, Streaming from the star above Precisely perched, the tiny doves God loves His children, every one; He sent LORD Jesus to redeem Through His ears we hear them sigh, They struggle to survive and cope, For on that ancient Christmas tree-- He reached throughout eternity To live life more abundantly And now He’s made His wishes known: It’s up to you and up to me To help Him with His Christmas tree.
Tonja and her husband live to exalt God. They lift Him up in books (P.O.W.E.R. Girl!; LEGACY; Visions of the King; Your Holy Health; more); presentations; service in church, community, and the world; and via the "River Rain Creative" (309 videos) and "POWERLight Learning" You Tube channels.
