How to Talk to God
by Tonja Taylor

Prayer is communicating with God. God doesn't need our prayers, but He desires out prayers. That's why He sent Jesus to die for us--for communication, for relationship with Him!

We need prayer! It is really for us. How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God! I John 3:1

Even Jesus, although He was all God, needed to pray to His Father while He was on this earth. If JESUS needed to pray, how much more do we? Prayer is never wasted, and if we are truly saved by the blood of Jesus, the Lord is faithful to hear and answer our prayers and to cleanse us from all sin! (I John 1:9)

P--Praise and Proclaim

Praise Him for Who He is!

Proclaim His wonderful promises!

"Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods." I Chronicles 16:23-25

R--Recite and Repent

Recite (confess) your sins to Him

Repent--turn from--wrong things

"Repent and believe the Good News!" Mark 1:15

A--Attitude of Gratitude

Thank Him aloud. List all blessing you can think of!

"Every good and perfect gift is from above." James 1:17

Y--You Yearn

Otherwise called "Supplication"--to ask, to present your needs to Him.

"Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete." In John 16:24

Remembering this simple acronym will help you pray, and you can teach it to others to help them!
