Jonah
by Tonja Taylor (It's better to obey than have stubborn silliness)
Jonah Was swallowed by a fish And had to sit in slimy squish; He threw up to God an earnest wish To be free, to see the light again.
God told Jonah, “Get up and tell this wicked city That on them I do have pity If they repent!"
But he wasted money on his trip He flew (in) o’er the whale’s big lip And its huge tongue that was YUCK He wound up in slimy muck
All because he stopped his ears And listened to his angry fears Instead of to his God, the LORD. He rested underneath a gourd.
Hey, hey Jonah! Why’re you worried about that gourd? Rejoice in the mercy of the sovereign Gracious LORD!
