Your Words Are Like Apples
by Tonja Taylor

Do you like apples? I do. They are sweet, and good for you. Like all the fruits and veggetables God makes, they can help you stay healthy.

It is the same with good words, words that are sweet to help and bless others. Good words are powerful tools that can help others grow and be strong, and be inspired to think and act to the glory of God.

The LORD is the One Who helps us know what to say and to say it at just the right time. It is a privilege to be a "speaking spirit" and knowing God's Word and saying His Word is the very best way we can be sure we speak Words that are the sweetest--and most nutritious--of all!

As the Word says in Ephesians 4:15, "Rather, let our lives lovingly express truth [in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly]. Enfolded in love, let us grow up in every way and in all things into Him Who is the Head, [even] Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)."

Speaking properly to the Glory of God is one of the hardest things for most people to do, but we can pray this prayer and the LORD will help us start doing better: Father, Your Word says to guard our hearts and minds, so that the things we feel and think will be right in Your eyes, and so we will say things that please You and help others. Please show us where we need to let Your Word wash our hearts and minds so that the words we speak will be full of Your wisdom, love and grace. Lead us to the Scriptures that will help us the most. We desire to do Your will, and we thank You for this very powerful privilege we have to affect the lives of ourselves and others with words. We receive Your help and thank and love You. In Jesus' Name, amen!
