When You Are At Your Edge

Counselor’s Corner: When You Are At Your Edge

Have you ever felt like you were on the “edge” and could not take another thing? Perhaps you are dealing with an ongoing crisis in your family, or chronic circumstances in your life that keep you geared-up. Whatever it is in your life that pushes you to the point where you feel like you are just about to go under is exactly where the enemy wants you to be.

Trials and difficulties come in our lives at various times, but when a series of troubles comes your way, you can be assured an assault has come your way from the enemies camp. The enemy has declared war on you, and hopes that through the constant pressure of the troubles you will give up, go back, and eventually surrender to the enemies plans.

Some circumstances that come our way are designed to take us out of the “good fight,” and some circumstances are so brutal that they are sent to destroy us. You will know the difference in the assault by how many and what type of “arrows” are being sent your way. Arrows from the enemies camp come in many ways, but the most damaging of arrows hits us in our emotions-our heart.

Have you become a target for the enemy?

We are often targeted for standing for truth, continuing to pray despite what we see in the physical realm, for not compromising with the world and the ways of the world, for believing God is the God of the impossible and a miracle-worker, for breaking generational sins/strongholds in the family, for obeying the Word of God, and for serving God and His kingdom whether through our time, talents, or finances. YOU WILL BECOME A TARGET FOR THE ENEMY WHEN YOU DON’T BACK DOWN DESPITE INTENSE OPPOSITION COMING YOUR WAY.

The enemy throws everything in “bag of tricks” at you hoping if they all come at you relentlessly, then you will FINALLY give up. But whoa, to the mighty warrior that refuses to give up under intense persecution, mistreatment, rejection, slander, and pain that seems not only unfair but unjust.

YOU MAY FEEL ON THE EDGE, BUT IF YOU REFUSE TO GIVE UP AND GO BACK, YOU WILL HAVE THE STRENGTH OF THE LORD GOD UPON YOU. RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO FIGHT THE BATTLES THAT YOU ARE FACING IN YOUR FLESH. GET INTO YOUR PRAYER ROOM OR WHEVER YOU GO TO PRAY, AND DECLARE VICTORY OVER YOUR TROUBLES. Get in the Word of God, and soak and saturate with the truth.

Speak the Word out loud and ask the Holy Spirit to give you scriptures that you can stand on. Praise and worship God while you are going through troubles, even if you are not feeling like it. Take authority over any demons that you believe are causing you trouble. Ask the Holy Spirit what demons are causing you trouble, and bind them in Jesus name from interfering with your life.

Be careful what you speak out when you are going through troubling times. We can make situations worse by how we speak about them. When you do speak about your circumstances, let there be a purpose in doing so, and not just for the sake of complaining, or wanting others to feel sorry for you.

Repent from any sins that you may have been harboring and ask the Holy Spirit to forgive you. Sometimes when we go through difficult times we ourselves end-up sinning through worry, not trusting God, offense, anger, unforgiveness, and bitterness. Don’t beat yourself up if you have sinned, God doesn’t; just take some time and ask God to give you a clean heart. If we continue to sin and not repent, whatever troubles we are enduring will only intensify. Come out of agreement with the enemy and don’t partner with his ways.
