Come Home
by Faith Noles

I squandered it all, treasure Father had gave,

Lust did conceive, now I was sin's slave.

Starving here in this place, unloved and alone,

Oh how I longed for my Father and home,

Hungry and scarred as I fed filthy swine,

One day I remembered what once had been mine.

I'll go to the Father, perhaps He'll forgive,

Not as a son, but as a servant I'll live.

I stood at the gate, my heart gripped in fear,

My pulse beating fiercely, afraid to go near,

My head bent so low that I failed to see,

My precious Father as He ran towards me.

Embraced in His warmth, chased fear all away,

He told me He loved me and with Him I would stay,

Father beckoned His servants, "Put shoes on his feet.

My son who was dead is now alive, can't you see?"

Shod in His spotless and royal purple robe,

My heart leaps with joy, Oh sweet the hope!

His ring circles my finger and my soul inflame,

Forgiven, clothed in His righteousness; redeemed from sin and shame.

The Prodigal Son. (Luke 15:11-32, ESV)

Many people have accepted Jesus as their Savior but not as Lord of their life. You’ve traveled to a far country. You may feel like you’ve fallen so far in sin that you’re now in a horrid darkness where there’s no escape. But friend, you haven’t fallen from the grace of God.

The Holy Spirit is gently calling you to come home. “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3, KJV)
