Vigilantes
by PamFord Davis

In the past, some presidential candidates ran on law and order platforms. Today, violence is out of control.  I don’t believe any of our present day candidates tout a law and order presidency.

What if the people decide to take law enforcement into their own hands?

Could our nation see a return of vigilantes?

I can’t say; yet, I do know God’s people must be ‘vigilant’ in prayer.

“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,  that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak (Colossians 4:2-4 NKJV). “

I know I fail miserably.

Will I strive to be vigilant in prayer; diligent in service and ministry?

“For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:10-12 NKJV).”

Through faith, I believe His promises.
