Good Listener
by PamFord Davis

We listen to many (so called) good speakers.

Some are in the public arena. These speakers have had years, even decades, of experience. They make their living through speaking and are good at what they do.

What about good listeners?

Be sure; God is a good listener.

“Lord, hear my prayer.
In Your faithfulness listen to my plea,
and in Your righteousness answer me (Psalm 143:1 HCSB).”

He is listening.

“You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:12-13 HCSB).”

Who is He listening to?

Is it you?

Is it me?

“We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He listens to him (John 9:31 HCSB).”

God is listening.

He hears and He answers.

“Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for (1 John 5:14-15 HCSB).”

Why aren’t we asking?

“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened (Matthew 7:7-8 HCSB).”
