The Rash is Right
by PamFord Davis

‘The rash is right.’

Come on down!

It was measles and I was down for the count.

In my case, misery did love company. I, (along with my younger sister) counted the days of isolation in our darkened room. Ironic but that isolation may have occurred 60 years ago. Yet, I still remember how Mom kept the window shades down.

We slept downstairs, near family and yet away from interaction and normal daily activities. The childhood disease ran its course. Mom and Dad took us to our family doctor for a follow-up examination. To our surprise, he sent us back home for more rest. He said we were not ready to return to school. In his professional opinion, we could have a relapse.

John the Baptist had a lapse in memory.

In the isolation of imprisonment, he forgot to place his faith in Jesus.

“When Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.

Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to Him, ‘Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Go and report to John what you hear and see: the blind receive sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me (Matthew 11:1-6 NASB).”
