INIQUITIES PRECEED CAPTIVITY
by Olawale Ogunsola

There are certain things in people's lives that bring discomfort and lamentation. They are negatives that dislocate ease and easiness in a man's life. Do you know that as at the time of reading this piece, you are having your own portion of life's negative experiences? This can be summarised in the word "Captivity".

This translates that you have been taken captive by your uncomfortable experience. When you are going through a time of captivity, you have no rule over what happens to you nor what people do to you. Some of these include the following :

I. "All who pass by clap their hands at you " New King James Version (NKJV). How will you (or do you) feel when you see a passer-by looking at you miserably and claps his hands in sympathy? When a fellow claps at you to be sorry for your pitiable situation, are you comfortable?

II. "They hiss and shake their heads" In "condolence", in most cases, those passers-by who see you in captivity will not only clap their hands but they go ahead to hiss and shake their heads. Are you comfortable with these? Do you love it? They are all evidence(s) that you have been held captive by your present situation.

III. It is not possible that all those who know your time of comfort and pleasure are sad and could not contain themselves, that wonder,

"is this the city that is called "The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth."

In other words, they wonder saying about you : "Is this the fellow that had once been respected? A person of great beauty and influence Who brings joy into the heart of everyone living in his locality?" They knew your past of comfort and comfortability and compares it with your present time of dryness and emptiness but they cannot make a head or tail of what brought this on you.

IV. Your experience may not only include the above from passers-by but the enemies of your soul go on a feast, rejoicing.

How?

Your enemies have time to rejoice over you. Their mouths are opened wide against you, and there is absolutely nothing you can do to silence them. "All your enemies have their mouths against you." These people also open their mouths in rejoicing over you because you have been brought so low.

V. In rejoicing, "They hiss and gnash their teeth." This hissing is a mockery of your predicament and not a pity unlike that of passers-by. They hiss and gnash their teeth happily because they have seen their evil thoughts coming on you, at least for a season.

VI. Hear their words, "We have swallowed her (him) up Surely this is the day we have waited for: We have found it, we have seen it." May the rejoicing of your enemies over you cease now and forever in Jesus Name.

Do you want this prayer to change your situation? You must examine your life very well to ask yourself " What have I done wrong before my God allows this to fall upon me?" Iron this out with your Maker. It might be that he had withdrawn His presence from you.

He may be executing His judgment planned for you.

"The Lord has done what He purposed, He has fulfilled His word Which He commanded in days of old. He has thrown down and has not pitied." Please, be reconciled to your Creator, God, through the Lord Jesus Christ. After examining your style or pattern of living that annoys God, determine to change it for the better which is in line with the Holy Scriptures. Do not hesitate to join an assembly of believers who live their lives in conformity with the Holy Bible. After this, call upon the Lord to rescue you from the present land of captivity. Let it be known to you that many times, there cannot be captivity without iniquity.

Watch.

Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord. Note. The points itemised are based on Lamentations 2:14-17. These are taken from New King James Version of the Holy Bible.
