How to Present an Offering to the LORD
by Tonja Taylor

That which is desired in a man is loyalty and kindness [and his glory and delight are his giving], but a poor man is better than a liar.--Proverbs 19:22, AMPC

When we give to the LORD, we call it an offering. But it means much more than many may know.

For most of my life as a saint (meaning, since I was 9 and received Christ Jesus as my Savior and LORD, which makes me and every person who's received Him in their hearts saints!)--I thought an offering was a slain animal.

Thank goodness we can give offerings to the LORD and we don't have to kill animals to cover our sins, like those in the Old Testament had to! Then the Lamb of God, the LORD Jesus Christ, came, and gave Himself as the ultimate Offering for sin, spilling all of His pure blood to eternally wash away ALL of our sins (John 3:15-17, Romans 10:13).

Romans 5:8  "But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us."

Also, I've happily learned that there are many ways we can give an offering to our truly awesome LORD, our Creator and Sustainer Who upholds the world with the power of His Word  (Hebrews 1:3).

A few of these ways are:  when we praise the Lord with our voices; when we play an instrument; when we write a poem or draw a picture to His Glory; when we help someone out of love; when we do the very best we can at our jobs; when we treat others with respect and dignity; when we take care of what He's given us; when we give the tithe and then money above that to support a ministry--all of these are offerings to the Lord.

When we give an offering to the Lord in any of these ways, or however else He shows us, it is worship; we were created to worship Him!

16 For it was in Him that all things were created, in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, whether thrones, dominions, rulers, or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [by His service, intervention] and in and for Him. 17 And He Himself existed before all things, and in Him all things consist (cohere, are held together). -- Colossians 1:16,17, AMPC
