Even Jesus Feared the LORD
by Tonja Taylor

The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, and Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. …Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. --Isa 11:2,3,5

Even the LORD Jesus had the fear of the LORD, for Jesus was born of a virgin and raised as a normal human. He did not do any miracles until after He was anointed by the LORD in the Holy Spirit and proved His victory over the enemy, who tempted Him for 40 days. So He had to learn submission as the rest of us have--to human parents, to legal authorities, and more. He was raised to fear ---to revere, and respect and worship--the LORD God, our Father, Yahweh, Who is Creator and Owner of Heaven and earth and the universe.

If Jesus, our Perfect Example, feared the LORD, then how much more should we?

1, Fear of the LORD = wisdom
2. Wisdom = understanding
3. Wisdom and understanding = reverence for God’s Truth (the Bible)
4. Truth = Direction and Grace (spiritual blessing, mercy, and (soul) peace (forever)!

There is a saying in the world, especially in business, that you get good experience by having bad experiences (first). That does NOT have to be!

The LORD is a good, faithful, tender, loving Father, and He will speak to us to direct us, by His Word, in prayer, in worship, listening to Biblical preaching and teaching, and by His Spirit, especially when we get quiet and learn to listen to His beautiful Voice. He loves us and wants to help us avoid danger and trouble, and have a life of Heaven on earth (John 10:10). Fearing Him is an excellent way to do that!
