He is My Defense
by PamFord Davis

If accused falsely, we need someone to defend us.

Two personal experiences come to mind.

Our son Lee was about 6 years old when accused of stealing. We were full timers at a Southern California KOA campground. The owners said that he stole pocket change from the campground store. If my memory serves me right, it was change from a billiard game table.

Lee’s Grandpa (my Dad) came to his defense. He was innocent and cleared of the false accusations. The owner apologized.

When working in a Florida childcare ministry, I was accused of not feeding an infant in my care. The healthy boy was a fussy eater. I was feeding him. The director of the church daycare center came to my defense. He spoke up on my behalf; I was grateful.

King David was falsely accused.

God was his defense.

“Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will you attack a man?
You shall be slain, all of you,
Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
They only consult to cast him down from his high position;
They delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth,
But they curse inwardly. Selah

My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved (Psalm 62:1-6 NKJV).”
