THUS SAITH THE LORD

Thought:  Another way to interpret this phrase would be “God has the last say.” His Word is the final authority.  He puts leaders in their place and takes them out if it is his will. Genesis tells us “and God said” every living thing that had breath and life came into existence through His Word.  The heavens with it’s trillions upon trillions of stars having their own names and as many galaxies with their own stars and oceans whose boundaries He set, all came into being with His spoken Word.  This reveal should expand our understanding of the God we worship.  St. Anselms sums Him up with just two words ‘INCOMPREHENSIBLE MAJESTY.’

Our Father God wants us to trust him in these times of chaos, confusion, fear and anxiety. He will have the last say in who is chosen to be our future leader.  It’s all in His timing and plan.  He doesn’t want us to live in fear but to trust Him as the true giver of peace and comfort.  When Jesus ascended to Heaven in his glorified body, He returned in Spirit with a new title called the Comforter to be in all who, by faith, believe in his message of Salvation.  While he was in the flesh he was limited to just those around him but in Spirit he could be in thousands at the same time. Somewhat like our computers and phones do now through sound waves that we can’t see.  He told the disciples that he would be gone soon but he would return to be in them in Spirit (Holy Spirit) as the comforter on a new mission. This event happened at Pentecost.

To the born-again Christian, the Bible, God’s WORD, is the only source of authority for their faith and practice of a Christ like life.  (II Tim. 3:16) “The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right.  It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone.”  Are you trusting God to give you the peace that only He can give?

Prayer:  Father God, I’m so thankful to have this relationship with you that I can address you as Abba, Father because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross.   Give me that peace that only you can give as I live out my days trusting in you.  Amen

Verse:  John 14:17-18 “ If you love me, obey me, and I will ask the Father and he will give you another Comforter and he will never leave you.  He is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit who leads unto all truth.  The world at large cannot receive him, for it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him.  But you do, for he lives with you now and some day shall be in you (Spirit of Jesus).  No, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in the storm—but will come to you.”
