Time to Wake Up
by PamFord Davis

So long ago; yet, it seems like yesterday…

It was early morning and I was upstairs sound asleep in my bed.

Mom stood at the bottom of the stairs down in the living room.

‘Time to wake up.’

It was a school day.

I woke up; putting on my robe and slippers, I went downstairs for breakfast. Mom had piping hot cocoa and buttered toast ready for me at our kitchen table.

The years quickly passed.

Then, I was the mother.

‘April, Lee; time to wake up.’

Parents of today wake their sleepy children.

The LORD has given His children wake up calls.

Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we first believed (Romans 13:11 NASB).”

Time to wake up…

“Awake, sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine on you (Ephesians 5:14b NASB).”

Sometimes, children don’t respond.

The parent returns.

‘Are you awake?’
