Am I A Wife Material?
by Olawale Ogunsola

By nature, mankind is selfish. He thinks, speaks and do things with soly aim of satisfying is personal desires. That is why personal pronouns dominate his conversation with others. These are "I, my, me, myself, mine". These are enough to identify a selfish man. So it is a very good yardstick to measure how selfish anyone is - including you.

To every marriageable lady, a good husband is a caring man. "A man who can take care of her in every sense of the word. Such a lady does not care how such man gets these things he is using to take care of her, that is the source(s) of getting those things. The moment she gets them, there is no more problem.

As a female, have you taken the time to ask yourself, "Am I a wife material? Do I possess those good qualities that any man can die for? Have I those desired qualities any man will pray for? Which of these qualities can I pursue to be an ideal wife of my future husband? Am I ready to put on those virtues not present in my life?

Let me point out at least two essential qualities you must have to be able to say, "I am a good wife material."

One, am I ready to submit to my husband? You need to understand that it is mandatory for a good wife to be submissive to her man to gain him further, Ephesians 5:21-22. No reasonable man will want an antagonist as a wife. Someone who will always be a regular opposition party in running the government of his household.

Let me reiterate it here that "submission" and "slavery" are not in any way synonymous. There is a wide gap between the two. To be submissive to a reasonable and responsible man will guarantee her security. This will also bring immeasurable blessings on their children. No man will be happy to have a "Yes" woman as a wife, but a contributng woman in decision making. A submissive woman will humbly air her opinion but will not take offence when such opinion is not taken or welcome by the man.

Take note that a slave has no say in a household where she serves. She is only to be seen but not to be heard. This is contrary to the plan of God for marriage. A slave takes orders only from her master, no suggestion, good or bad is allowed from her. Some wicked masters can trample a slave under foot. A submissive wife is a home builder while the husband is a masterbuilder, both work together for the good of their empire , the home.

Am I a submissive woman? Am I ready to be submissive to be a good wife material?

Two, it is equally important to note that to be a good wife material, you need to be a wife ready to please your husband. The Holy Scriptures discloses,
"But a married woman has to think about her earthly
responsibilities and how to please her husband." I Corinthians 7:34 (d). NLT.

Do you want to be a marriageable woman? You cannot afford to fail in your earthly responsibilities to please your husband. Are you ready to do this? You must not only prepare but start practicing this starting from your father's house. You ought to do all to be responsible and please your father continuously.

"Charity begins at home" is an age-old wise saying. It begins at home but it does not end there. Your ability to please your father will convince you and any man watching you that you are a potential wife material. If you cannot please your father, how can you attempt to do so to your masterbuilder? Please, find time to read Numbers 30:3-15 for a wider understanding of what I meant by this. There are God's rules and regulations to observe which will convince you or prove that you are a good wife material.

Pay attention to this truth that these two points cannot stand on their own except they are planted and well rooted in the love of God extended to your husband. You can read this in Mark 12:30-31. Love is the foundation of every good and successful marriage. You need to play your part very well. Do these with love and wisdom, you will not regret doing so. Make yourself available as a wife material. May the Lord attach you to a right husband material in Jesus name.

Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord that is imminent.
