UNDER THE OLD OAK TREE
by Lewis E. Thomas

UNDER THE OLD OAK TREE

One day I was deep in the woods hiking all alone!
I had been walking for hours and found myself "LOST" in an unfamiliar zone!

I saw a MIGHTY OLD OAK that had no doubt been standing for hundreds of years!
As I looked at it for some reason I felt God, and my eyes began to fill with tears!

I sat down under it and I went to sleep against its "MASSIVE TRUNK" that reached up proudly and profound!
And as I began to dream, that old oak began to "SPEAK TO ME" with a voice that "SHOOK" the ground!

It said:
"I began my life as a small acorn that fell to the ground hundreds of years ago!"
"And the MIGHTY CREATOR up in Heaven watched over me and caused me to sprout roots and to quickly grow!"

"I have endured many "STORMS" and "FLOODS", and I've been scarred by "FIRE" and "DISEASE" that caused me much "PAIN"!
"I have endured many "DROUGHTS" when my CREATOR gave me little or no rain.

"My roots run down deep into the soil of the earth that my CREATOR holds in His hand!
"I FEAR NO STORM TODAY because my roots are SECURE in the HOLLOW of His hand!"

"I HAVE ENDURED MORE STORMS THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE WITH YOUR CARNAL MIND!"
"AND WITH EACH STORM I GROW STRONGER AND I GROW CLOSER TO MY GREAT CREATOR DEVINE!"

"When you look at me today standing so  PROUD, MAJESTIC AND STRONG!"
"Notice that my limbs are REACHING UP to PRAISE MY CREATOR that sits up high on His THRONE"!

I awoke suddenly from my dream under the old oak tree!
And I thanked God for using that old oak tree to Strengthen and "Encourage" me!

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out?
