Only the Beginning
by PamFord Davis

The role of radio announcer was any easy one for me to fill. I couldn’t believe how fortunate I was; I was actually getting paid to play records.

Music directors at the radio stations selected the top 45-rpm hits and placed them in rotation for play. Yes, we played our listeners favorites repeatedly and on purpose. One of my favorite duos out of the 1970’s was Karen and Richard, the ‘Carpenters.’

The sister and brother had 31 singles, among them-three ranked at #1, five at #2. In 1970, they received nominations in both ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best Contemporary Song’ for their hit record, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun.’

On that line of thought, God is at work. He’s only just begun. Get aboard; you’ve got a ticket to ride!

“Lord God, You have begun to show Your greatness and power to Your servant, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can perform deeds and mighty acts like You (Deuteronomy 3:24 HCSB)?”

Moses witnessed the Lord’s power to lead His people out of Egyptian bondage. God was preparing them for the Promised Land.

It was only the beginning. God had only begun to reveal Himself to a lost and rebellious world.
