Distortion Of Information
by Olawale Ogunsola

Information is central to human existence. It has a lot to do with every facet of a man's life. Available information dictates a decision to make. Every good or bad decision made, most of the times, rests on the quality and quantity of information one can access.

In forming an opinion, making a decision or taking a step, having the right information helps a lot ; but in some cases, it fails. What is it that can cause making a wrong decision from true information? Why can a wrong step be taken from right information?

Distortion of information!

To have good information for decision making is one thing, having a perfect understanding of available information is another thing entirely. So, comprehending what you have on hand is very paramount as far as the steps you will take is concerned. If you distort the information you have on hand you will miss it all.

Distortion of information takes place at any level of the society and from anyone, great or small, educated or not educated. It is not restricted, in any way, to any sex. Any man or woman can distort information available.

This was the case with certain disciples of Jesus Christ after His resurrection.

In Luke chapter twenty-four and in verse five to eleven, certain disciples who loved their Master went to the tomb where Jesus was buried but could not see His dead body. These disciples were all women. They were fortunate enough to meet two angels of God in the physical in the form of men who told them the truth about the whereabouts of Jesus Christ, they said,
"... Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here, but is risen :remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, saying,"The son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and third day rise again!" Luke 24:5-7.

These women disciples knew what they saw and heard and were ready to relay same to other disciples. As expected, they acted well their part by explaining what they have seen and heard to other disciples who found it very difficult to believe the women's report. To them, the Scriptures disclosed how they held the report :
"And their words seemed to them as idle takes, and they believed them not. Verse 11.

To receive information is not the end of it all, those who receive it has the exclusive right to believe it or not. This in turn will influence the steps to be taken by the receiver of the information. That is first thing!

Another thing is manifested by certain other disciples who distort the right report delivered by the women disciples. The distorted information becomes, in their words,
"And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulcre, and found it even so as the women had said : but him they saw not. Verses 23-24.

Let me call your attention to verse twenty-three that represents distortion of a high order. The women disciples reported what they have seen as against
"they had also seen a vision of angels".

Is there any correlation between the information delivered to the men who were disciples who failed to believe them and the distorted information they chose to believe? This could not be acted upon at all.

They were confused more.

This was the reason the Lord Jesus appeared to them to confirm the report of the women. He told them,
"These are the words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms concerning me." verse 44.

To God be glory, Jesus Christ opened their eyes of understanding to acknowledge the truth reported by the women disciples.

Beloved reader, how do you handle the information at your disposal? Do you see it as it is, the truth? Do you have the right interpretation of the information?

Please, examine every information at your disposal to have a perfect knowledge and understanding of it. If you need more, do not hesitate to gather more. Do not distort information because the tendency is high that you will spread the same. The result will not be favorable, locally, nationally or internationally.

NOTE FOR SALVATION
"The Father loveth the Son(Jesus Christ), and hath given all things into his hand.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
