A VISIT WITH KATHERINE

A VISIT WITH KATHERINE ALEXANDER

My wife Penny and I visited Katherine Alexander this morning at a Nursing Home. Katherine spoke of her son not answering her calls and not visiting her on Mother's Day and not even getting a card from him. He has treated her like that for years. She spoke of talking to her grandson on the phone which she enjoyed. She made a few complaints about the nursing home care. Katherine is about 105 yrs old with a birthday coming August 5th. She speaks often of the Bible and God.

We had to visit with her outside where there was a lot of highway noise so it was hard to hear all her words clearly. She spoke of the book of Revelation and how the end time signs were coming to pass with the Covid 19 Pandemic and other ills of our nation. She asked if I had ever heard the song, "IT AINT GONNA RAIN NO MORE"? I pulled the song up on my Smart Phone and held the phone close to her ear to let her listen to it.  Then I played "That Old Rugged Cross" by Alan Jackson, followed by the song "ONE DAY AT A TIME" that she requested. She tapped her hand and foot with the beat of the songs as she listened closely. It was a "PRICELESS MOMENT"! We were only allowed 45 min to visit with her. She asked what time it was and I said about 11:00.
She said it's about time for lunch. I took her hand and prayed that God would watch over her, and keep her spirit lifted up.
I said, "WE LOVE YOU" and will see you again soon!
As she began turning her wheelchair around to go back into the facility she said" THANK YOU FOR COMING, YOU MADE MY DAY"!
I replied, " THANK YOU TOO! BECAUSE YOU MADE MY DAY"! I had to wipe some tears away!
I was reminded thereafter of how God told us to store up Treasures in Heaven where no thief could break through and steal our Treasures! I know God won't forget all the times we've visited Eden Springs Nursing Home to be a friend to residents there. Doing acts of kindness for others is how we Store Up treasures in Heaven!
It's a wonderful way to live life!
To think of the needs of others more than the needs of ourselves.
Thank you God for the precious moments with Katherine today!
PRAISE YOUR NAME!
