Revival Falling in Love With Jesus
by Dale Buchanan

II Chronicles 7:14 “If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and SEEK MY FACE, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The third condition in praying for revival is to Seek God’s Face.  What does that mean?  Why is it better to talk face-to-face rather than over the phone, or by letter, or texting?  When a young man is courting a young lady, he wants to see her and be in her presence while they talk together.  Why?  Because you not only hear the words, but you see the expression of the face and the look in the eyes.  You can sense sincerity or insincerity.  You get to know the person.

When we genuinely seek God’s face, we want to know Him – to know his words, thoughts, emotions, and character.  The word face has the idea of “presence.”  We want to know God intimately.  We want to pour out our hearts to God and let God talk to us directly.  We want to spend time with Him.

“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give you the desires of thine heart.”  Ps. 37:4   We are so immersed in our relationship with God that we want what He wants, and He wants what we want.  You are one in the Lord.

In Ps. 42:2, the Psalmist said, “My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God.”  In Philippians 3:10, Paul desired “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.”

When you seek God’s face, you are willing to SPEND THE TIME to get to know Him and see Him as He really is.  We are glad to bend our will to His.  We are committed to love Him, follow Him, and Obey Him.

Are you seeking His face?
