Jean's Couple's Class
by PamFord Davis

Jean Hickman touched lives of young wives and their husbands.

She was the teacher of our Sunday school couple's class at 2nd Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas. Jean was not domineering. She was submissive to her LORD and to husband Pat. Through Jean’s example, I learned much about the power of prayer and prayer partners.

I met weekly with our young wives prayer group. With Jean’s encouragement, we prayed and God answered.

“Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified,  sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us (Titus 2:3-8 NASB).”

What about us, the members of Jean Hickman’s class?

We’re now in our 70’s. Jean and husband Pat have gone on to be with Lord.

Gone but not forgotten…
