Sheltered in the Shepherd's Love
by Lorraine Taylor

"One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.  For he will hide me (us) in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me (us) under cover of his tent; he will set me high on a rock.  Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord."  Psalm 27:4-6

No matter the adversity, storms, and difficulties we face, we have a Lord who shepherds us in them, whose love endears us to him, and whose grace sustains, even in situations appearing dire and impossible. May we remember our Lord is faithful, maintaining in each circumstance. Our Lord intimately joins us in pain and suffering, and in this, he is the source.

When others choose to lie, deceive and attack, our Lord's love is enough. When others choose to serve evil over good, Grace is fully supplied. When others choose to speak death, our Lord breathes rivers of life.

Our Lord's life was broken and crushed that we might live and know the goodness, truth, and authenticity of holy love. This love is manifested within the community and is displayed in genuine relationships. This love embraces each one in every challenge and in all the troubles we encounter in this world.

May we hold dear that you, I, and we as the beloved ones of the highest God will always be intertwined within the warmth, caring compassion of his love, not based on anything we feel, do, or say.

"And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13
