A Woman of Great Faith
by PamFord Davis

It wasn’t the first time Grandma Ford’s cooking came to mind. These thoughts are fresh so I’m compelled to rekindle memories. I thought of her yesterday while fixing my breakfast. Unlike most mornings, I wanted a big breakfast of eggs, grits, bacon and toast.

My husband Norm likes his eggs scrambled well or in vegetable omelets. He never has his eggs fried. On the other hand; I prefer fried, scrambled or French toast. I don’t buy bacon often; so adding it to breakfast yesterday was a treat.

After frying my bacon in a cast iron skillet; I cracked an egg and put it in the sizzling grease. Then, I thought of Grandma.

She took several spoons of her hot grease and dropped it on top of the center of the egg yolk. I followed her Ford tradition. The edges of the egg fried crisp; while the yolk cooked well. I sat down at my table with comfort food and cherished memories of Grandma.

My grandmother was a woman of great faith.

Timothy’s was too.

“… when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also (2 Timothy 1:5 NKJV).”
