REALITY vs FANTASY

Thought:  Children growing up in this generation have a hard time separating fact from fiction.  With the incredible advancement in computer generated technology, fantasy becomes their world.  From computer games, movies and television, their fake world becomes a reality for them that’s attractive and addictive.  We live in a complex world where parents need to be more attentive to what their children are involved in.  What kind of foundation are we building for them?  Are we teaching them God’s principles for living or are we allowing the world's philosophies to be their foundation?  What HOPE are we giving them for a future?  Do they believe in an eternal afterlife with Jesus?  If these things are absent from their training, they have no HOPE.  For years, our children have been indoctrinated into life’s answer through Darwin’s so-called scientific theory of evolution, which leaves them at a dead end with no afterlife.

This is where the Christian parent’s responsibility lies in teaching their children critical thinking, a scriptural way, that is the narrow way to Salvation.  We are immortal beings with a Spirit that will live forever.  There are only two choices for us.  Heaven or hell.  Heaven is a place where God is, and hell is the abode of Satan.  If we deny the truth of the scriptures that Jesus died for our sins, arose from the grave and is alive today, then we have no hope and neither do our children if they follow in our footsteps.

I have a problem anymore, watching fiction shows on TV or movies produced by Hollywood or Disney.  I find the idea that it’s all actors paid to do what they do and as soon as their director says “cut”, they go home to their real world.  I discovered, by the Lord’s revelation early in my years, that my addiction to soap operas was very unproductive towards His plan for me.  I was allowing my emotions to be controlled by something that was not real.  Parents, teach your young ones to love life and help them to learn real coping skills that they will have later in life.  Monitor their time in the fantasy world of video games, television and movies.  Give them HOPE in life everlasting with Jesus. Take them into the authority of God’s word that will establish a firm foundation for any trials they may face in the future.

For the believer, reality today is placing our faith in the ONE who knows all about the future and the ups and downs of life as he has been through it all.  He was tortured for the sins we committed.  He paid the price that we should have by dying on the cross.  Why?  Because He loves us and wants everyone who believes in Him to spend eternity in Heaven with Him.  That’s the blessed HOPE we stand on and we need to pass this HOPE on to our children.

Prayer:  Father God, I lift up my request for today’s children who are heavily exposed to this fantasy world.  Bring them out into the light of your presence and the reality that there is forgiveness for our sins and eternal life with you.  Amen

Verse:  Rom. 12:2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think.  Then you will learn from your own experience how his ways will really satisfy you.”
