More Water, More Fruit
by Tonja Taylor

More water, more fruit, I thought, as I marvelled at the many baby cucumbers on the vine. I turned on the faucet to water them for at least the second time today, and thought, Why didn't I give them more to start with?  That way, instead of the vine producing just one quickly-growing big cuke, we could have had many getting ripe at once!

I must have questioned the LORD about it, for the idea had dropped in my heart to start watering twice a day, and in greater amounts, especially in this southern heat. Our dear Father is so gracious to answer our prayers, even if we don't speak them out loud. He forever knows our hearts, and every word, even before we speak it (Psalm 139:4).

So He, dear Daddy God that He is, cares about the details of our lives. When I'd questioned in my mind why there was not more fruit, He'd attentively heard and given me the answer in the form of an idea to change something; to do more!

Such a simple thing, but simple changes can make a huge difference!

So I started watering more. Then the fruit started bursting forth, abundantly, healthily, being nourished by the plentiful water.

Of course, He--Elohim, Who created and sustains all life--knows all things. He is truly awesome!

Another thing I thought of was the verse that says, to paraphrase, "No worship, no rain." It's found in Zechariah 14:16,17:

16 Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, then the rain will not fall on them.--Zechariah 14:16-17, Berean Study Bible

Worshiping the LORD and speaking and singing His Word are "rain" to our spirits, souls, and bodies.  Just like the cucumber vine needed much more water to grow strong and healthy and produce much more fruit, how much more do we need the Living Water of the true worship of God, and His life-changing Word to nourish us and cause us to bear much fruit!

16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I Am], He may give it to you.--John 15:15-16, AMPC
