Thought:  Clouds are important.  How important are they in the scriptures?  Can you imagine a blank sky without clouds?  I love the fall sky with its deep blue’s and cotton like clouds that create a masterpiece in the Heavens from the hand of God.  Every day you can see countless shapes, sizes and colors in the morning sunrises and evening sunsets.  There are over 56 references to clouds in the scriptures. Let’s see what they say about clouds:

God is the creator of clouds, Psalms 147:8 “He covers the Heavens with clouds, sends down the showers and makes the green grass grow in mountain pastures.”

He led the Israelites out of Egypt. Num. 9:15,16,17 “On the day the tabernacle was raised, the Cloud covered it; and that evening the Cloud changed to the appearance of fire and stayed that way throughout the night. When the Cloud lifted, the people of Israel moved on to wherever it stopped and camped there.”

Moses disappears in a cloud.  Exodus 24:18 “And Moses disappeared into the cloud covered mountain top and was there for forty days and forty nights.”

God questions Job.  Job 37:15,16,17 “Do you know how God controls all nature, and causes the lightning to flash forth from the clouds?  Do you understand the balancing of the clouds with wonderful perfection and skill?

God’s promise in a rainbow. Gen 9:14,15 “When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will be seen in the clouds, and I will remember my promise to you and to every being, that never again will the floods come and destroy all life.”

Our Blessed hope as believers and children of God.  Mark 13:26,27 “Then all mankind will see me, the Messiah coming with great power and glory.  And I will send out the Angels to gather my chosen ones from all over the world… from the furthest bounds of earth and heaven.”

Prayer:  Father God, what a fantastic promise that is to all those who love you, that you are coming back to take us to that place you’ve prepared for us.  You are the God of peace and comfort.  Amen

Verse:  I Thess. 4:16,17,18 “For the Lord Himself, will come down from Heaven with a mighty shout and a soul-stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet-call of God.  And believers who are dead will be the first to rise to meet the Lord.  Then we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever.  So, comfort and encourage each other with this news. “
