Our human nature is enticed by offers of something new and improved. Routines can quickly become ruts and we seek variety; contentment is rare. Customers flock to supermarket superstores and warehouse chains in search of the latest things to hit the shelves.

I remember a conversation with the owner of small grocery store. He shared that he always tried to offer at least two choices when stocking milk and bread. He knew that customers desired a choice.

Can we pick and choose our foundation of faith?

The bedrock is not optional.

 “Thus says the Lord:

‘Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls (Jeremiah 6:16a NKJV).”

We can’t improve on God’s old path to salvation. Jesus is the way.

“For He satisfies the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul with goodness (Psalm 107:9 NKJV).”
