Who?
by PamFord Davis

Farmers walk (and work) by faith.

… “for we walk by faith, not by sight— (2 Corinthians 5:7 NASB).”

I live in the agricultural area of the Louisiana Delta and have witnessed farmers’ faith first hand.

“Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether one or the other will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good (Ecclesiastes 11:6 NASB).”

A farmer works; yet, in patience he waits.

“Therefore be patient, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near (James 5:7-8 NASB).”

Our farmers have been blessed in this year’s harvest. Most of their crops have been gathered.

“Do you not say, ‘There are still four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I tell you, raise your eyes and observe the fields, that they are white for harvest.  Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that the one who sows and the one who reaps may rejoice together.  For in this case the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps (John 4:35-37 NASB).”

Who will gather the LORD’s planting?

“Now after this the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and sent them in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. And He was saying to them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest (Luke 10:1-2 NASB).”
